Jim Rogers of Duke Energy Elected President of Ueda
James C. “Jim” Rogers, director of economic development, Duke Energy, has been elected as president of the Economic Development Association (UEDA). Rogers was unanimously elected to serve a two-year term as UEDA president at the 2005 UEDA Summer Forum held recently in Portland, Oregon.The UEDA is an international organization of investor-owned utility economic development professionals. “All UEDA activities are designed to help members succeed in meeting the diverse economic development objectives and challenges faced by investor-owned utilities and the communities they serve while, at the same time, helping site selectors deal more effectively with utilities,” said Rogers.
He joined Duke Energy in 1974 as an agricultural engineer in the marketing department in Hickory. After a series of promotions in the marketing department, he was named marketing manager in Spartanburg in 1988 and manager of commercial and industrial power marketing in 1991. In 1994, Rogers was named manager of economic development in Greenville, SC. He was named to his current position in 1999.
