Clark Sutton Gillespy Director of Economic Development — Carolinas
Clark Gillespy is Director of Economic Development—Carolinas for Duke Energy's Economic Development Division. He is responsible for new and expanding industrial and commercial business recruitment in Duke Energy served territories in North Carolina and South Carolina. He was promoted to this position in December 2006.
Prior to accepting his current position, Gillespy was Manager of Business Development and responsible for project coordination for Duke Energy in the following industries: life sciences, medical devices, food and beverage manufacturing, aerospace, corporate headquarters, warehousing/ distribution/ logistics, data and call centers, composites R&D.
Prior to joining Duke Energy in 2004, Gillespy served as the Managing Director of Fluor Global Location Strategies (Fluor GLS). Fluor GLS, a division of Fluor Corporation, is one of the preeminent site selection firms in the world.
Gillespy is a member of the International Bar Association (London), District of Columbia Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association, and Alabama Bar Association. In addition to having chaired numerous trade forum events, Gillespy has served appointments from two Governors on international competitiveness and trade councils.
Gillespy received a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Alabama, a Juris Doctorate degree from the Cumberland School of Law, and a Masters of Business degree from European University in Brussels.
