Stuart Heishman Manager of Business Development

Stuart Heishman is business development manager for Duke Energy, focused on plastics and building materials industries. Heishman joined the company in July 2005.

From 1990 to 2005, Heishman was employed by MACTEC Inc. (formerly Law Engineering), an engineering consulting services company in Tampa, Fla. He served as vice president and managing principal from 1998 to 2005 and was responsible for business development, strategic direction, contract negotiation, budgeting, profit and loss and operations management. His client base included the state and federal government and industrial, institutional and commercial organizations. Before joining MACTEC, Heishman was employed by Wiley and Wilson in Lynchburg, Va., as an assistant design engineer.

The Woodstock, Va., native graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.

Heishman is a member of the North Carolina Economic Developers Association, South Carolina Economic Developers Association, Society of American Military Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and Leadership Charlotte. Heishman served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1986 to 1990 as a first lieutenant.
